Internet Marketing

The First Step!!

The first step

The first step

Welcome to Internet Marketing with Nathan James.

I’m a 34 year old ,Internet marketer from Cardiff.

I enjoy surfing, Mugs of tea,  poker,  music and money.  And Greggs pasties.

Currently I live with my girlfriend and am in the process of renovating a dilapidated house in to something that’s ….well ….. Livable really!!
I’m aiming for the day when it doesn’t look like the 70′s have thrown up on the floor and walls, wind doesn’t howl through gaps at the side of windows and to have a warm shower!!
If you have ever seen this film then you know what I mean…

I have had a succession of shitty jobs. From customer care, labouring and factory work.  And have always been on the look out for a decent way to make money.
I work shifts in my regular job and am seriously looking to get out of the grind and to set up something for me.

I have always been drawn to earning extra money. The dream of earning and being your own boss has always been a huge attraction to me.

We could all List hundreds of reasons as to why we want to work for ourselves or work from home.

  •  Your own boss , not answerable to anybody
  • Set your own hours
  • All the hard work you put in hopefully means that we will see the benefits for ourselves. Rather than working your ass off only for your boss to pull up in a brand new car.

The laptop lifestyle is a growing trend. With people sacking they’re bosses and taking up office at home in front of the telly!!

my quest for Internet riches began around a year ago where i began studying a html course at college. i dug deeper and there were plenty of people earning huge sums of money and or very strong reliable second incomes.

This got me interested  and started reading anything and everything.
this quickly snowballed and before long i was buying every shiny bit of crap  that I could lay my hands on.
It’s become an obsession in a lot of ways. I dedicate a lot of time researching different methods etc but without Action it gets you nowhere!!

i have looked at most ways of making money

  •  eBay
  • Amazon
  • Google ads
  • affiliates
  • solo ads

But nothing as of yet… has put coin in my pockets!!!

You see my biggest trouble is that I  am a procrastinator, worrier, and all this time since I started coaching it has taken me this long to get my first post up.
Worrying because I haven’t really written anything at length for years
will it be any good, readable or interesting?!

And  this is the start of my blog. Hopefully documenting my journey through the Internet marketing maze.
From registering my first domain to managing a successful on-line business.

Hopefully covering various methods of marketing. And the ups and downs that it inevitably will bring.

And it’s finally started. My first site!!

Thanks for reading!

This is what it’s all about, personization and giving people something to get their teeth into.. Love your writing style.. Keep um coming.

    Welcome to the blogosphere Nathan,

Fantastic first blog post man and I couldn’t avoid laughing at the movie reference (I’m actually going to check it out because I don’t remember watching that).

Anyway, I think we all started the same way (struggling a lot) but eventually we found out that a mentor can speed up the success process drastically.

It’s really cool to see we have the same mentor in common (Marc Milburn) so I’ll be rooting for you my man and all the best in your upcoming achievements! 😉

      Hey Sergio,
Thank you. Definitely watch that one, it is an 80’s classic (for me anyway).
It’s the beginning that has held me back time and time again. I am so far ahead of where i was a year ago.
Marc is excellent, He’s doing a lot for the IM community, I’m glad I got in when I did!

    Hi Nathan,

So much of what you’ve said is recognisable. The dissatisfaction with the job, the procrastination and the worrying.

Several things have helped me through. The main ones are having an accountability partner and deadlines. These two can help you take action despite the overthinking and tendency to perfection.

If you have Marc as a mentor you’ll be on the right track. Just keep moving forward.

      Hi Dave,
great idea’s. Deadlines for me are a must, and I like the accountability partner idea. will definitely be adding that to my list !!

    Hi Nathan!

Great first post… It really does get easier the more you do! (And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like blogging!).

Take things slowly but surely… Positive little steps to move yourself forward. Remember that even a failure is a success because you’ve learned something.

Far too many people (including me) expect too much too soon… and that’s when you start looking for shiny objects.

Give me a shout if I can help you with anything.

      Hey Rob,
Thank you, now that the first post is done it feels like the creative gate has been left open!!
And I have banned myself from shiny things for the good of my bank account and this Blog !!

That first step is always the hardest! I’m so with you on the procrastination thing too as I suffered from that for a long time, but joining OWB has totally been the kick up the a*se I needed, and judging by the fact that you now have a proper blog up and running there’s no reason why you can’t be unstoppable 🙂

    • nathan Nov 6,2013 at 10:49 pm

      Thanks James,
Procrastination is my biggest enemy, If I can keep that out the way then I’m on the right track.
I feel like the momentum has started!

Hey Nathan, at least now you have made that first bold move. You now have your first blog post online.

I enjoyed reading your story and know than many (if not all) will resonate with your journey into Internet Marketing. Many enter this game thinking it will be easy and something they will be making a lot of money from very quickly.

We all know it takes long hours, hard work and dedication to succeed.

      Hi Chris,
thanks mate. Its been a long time coming.
I agree, there are very few quick riches in this world.
Building something for the long term will take me time.
      looking forward to it!!
